Hurricane Helene and Hackathon update

Hello Hackathon Participants,

As you might know, Hurricane Helene is heading towards Florida with potential impacts on Thursday evening and Friday morning. As of now, we are planning to proceed with the hackathon activities with some modifications to the schedule.

We need your input to ensure the modifications address the majority of the participants' concerns. Please visit the Google Form link below to provide your input on schedule modifications.

Based on the responses received, we will announce the modified schedule tomorrow early afternoon. Thus, we request that you complete this form before September 26, 11 AM.

We are considering starting the hackathon on Saturday at 9 AM. However, this would mean participants would have less than 27 hours to work on the hackathon. If we do not make any changes to the schedule, participants will have less than 45 hours to work on the hackathon, with the last three hours for final presentations and the award ceremony.

Alternatively, we could start the hackathon on Friday at 4 PM as originally scheduled but make the kickoff event where we share problem case descriptions and datasets a hybrid event with in-person and online options. Everyone will be expected to be in person for all hackathon activities on Saturday and Sunday at The Link, 425 Town Plaza Ave, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32081.

We hope the above clarifications help you select an option that is best for you in the Google Form. Thank you very much for your understanding.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Dr. Umapathy at k.umapathy@unf.edu.

If you have any questions about the hackathon, please post on the discussion forum

Sincerely,

2024 AI4Good Hackathon Organizers.
